Merry Johnson – CMRA Treasurer

Merry joined the Combined Military Retiree’s Association of the District of Columbia Inc., in 2016 and immediately engaged in serving as the Assistant Treasurer assisting with fundraisers as well as volunteering during community events.

Merry began her military service in 1984 at Fort Gordon, Georgia as a Signal Corps Officer.   She held numerous positions throughout her career such as Platoon Leader in 22nd Signal Brigade in Germany and 16th Signal Company Commander at Fort Huachuca Arizona.    Her assignments included locations in Germany, Korea, Fort Huachuca Arizona, Fort Sill, Oklahoma and culminating as a System Synchronization Officer in the Army G8 at the Pentagon.

During her distinguished military career Merry earned numerous awards to include the Legion of Merit, NATO Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with 4 oak leaf clusters, Joint Service Commendation Medal with 1 oak leaf cluster, Army Commendation Medal with 1 oak leaf cluster, Army Achievement Medal with 1 oak leaf cluster,  National Defense Service Medal with 1 oak leaf cluster, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon with 2 oak leaf clusters, Parachutist Badge, and Army Staff Identification Badge.

After an illustrious career, Merry retired from the United States Army on June 2005, after twenty-one years. She currently works as a contractor for FCI, Incorporated supporting the Army Chief Information Officer (CIO) G-6.

Merry resides in Virginia. She is married to Eddie “Jay” also a CMRA member.
